We (sort of) apologize for the lack of content here lately, but maybe you’ll forgive us after I provide you with this humble, badly writtenNew Years Eve aural offering. If you’re like me, you understand that New Year’s isn’t quite all it’s cracked up to be. Below are a handful of exceptional NYE-themed tracks sure to dampen the mood of any overly optimistic party you may attend. Please enjoy. Here’s to resolutions we won’t keep and to nothing changing.

Have you heard the Good News about Drug Church?
The thing about the internet is, I don’t need to go door to door or shout on a street corner to tell you. Drug Church has a new video for the first song “But Does It Work?” from their upcoming record Swell. Behold:
It’s yet another “variation on a theme” we’ve seen a great deal from the band: unfiltered pessimism. On many of the songs on their excellent debut album, Paul Walker, vocalist Patrick Kindlon shouted about this in one way or another (“entropy’s the natural state of things;” “everything went tits up;” “crush ambition, collect and burn the pieces”).
The talk-singing Kindlon has employed in Self Defense Family the last few years creeps in on this song, giving it a feel of both freshness and resignation. No subject is immune from the accusation of ‘not working:’ the mundane tasks of everyday life, the idea of bettering oneself, democracy, relationships (hilariously, lesbianism is the only potential exception).
I’m inclined to agree, but for now, this song is working pretty well for me.
Swell is due out in 2015 on No Sleep Records.
Tegan & Sara Collaborate with Night Terrors of 1927
Check out this new ballet-laden video featuring our favorites Tegan & Sara in collaboration with Night Terrors of 1927 (Blake Sennett of Rilo Kiley and Jarrod Gorbel of old indie favorite The Honorary Title). Night Terrors of 1927 are set to release their debut album Everything’s Coming Up Roses January 20 on Atlantic. Tegan & Sara recently announced that they will be taking time off in 2015 to write and record a new album. I think I speak for all of us here when I say “hell yeah.”
Title Fight announce ‘Hyperview,’ new music video
And now for a glimpse of the future. The new Title Fight album, Hyperview, will be released on February 3rd of next year. Will Yip, a fixture of Title Fight’s production and a fellow Pennsylvania native, returned to produce this album. He has worked with the likes of Circa Survive, Pity Sex, and La Dispute in the past.
